Overview....
Philtec's non-contact sensors provide linear position measurements at distances from 0 to 50 mm away (2 inches). They are intrinsically safe, very compact, and highly accurate allowing measurements inside of mechanisms, submerged in fluids, in hostile environments and with targets that are impossible to measure with other sensing technologies. We are eager to customize to your specifications.
Two types of fiberoptics are available:
Reflectance Dependent (D) and Reflectance Compensated (RC).
D models are generally used for measurements to objects moving along the axis of the sensor. RC models are good for single axis measurements as well as for measurements to objects moving past the sensor. Either type can be provided with an analog or a digital output.
Analog Sensors are fast responding units for dynamic applications: bandwidths exceeding 1 megahertz are possible.
Digital Systems (DMS) are the best choice for absolute distance measurements, multiplexing and for process control applications. They have a linearized RC232 output with a 5 KHz maximum sampling rate. Multiple calibrations can be stored on-board. D and RC models available. Philtec control software included.
Standard Hardware....
Standard Analog units include the amplifier, sensor tip , 3 foot long fiber optic cable, require +VDC input power, and provide 0 to +5 Volt analog output with DC - 20 KHz bandwidth.
Standard DMS units include the amplifier, sensor tip, and 3 foot long RC fiberoptic cable. They provide distance and reflectance data using RS-232 protocol and include AC power adaptor, keypad and display for local operation. Can be provided as single or dual channel instruments.
Mini-DMS units are single channel full-featured for PC operation only.
10DMS modular multi-channel rack accepts any combination of up to 10 Philtec DMS type sensors.
Applications...include deflection measurements, dimensional gaging, dynamic vibration analysis, motion control, measurements in vacuum, process control, thickness measurements, surface profiling and so much more!
